On Saturday 7 March, we are organising the first Mobil Wikijam at Cultureghem (Abattoir site, Ropsy Chaudronstraat 24, 1080 Anderlecht).
Mobil is a modular construction system for temporarily redesigning, testing and activating public space together. And because such a system only really works if others can also understand and use it, we are simultaneously building the place where everything comes together: the Mobil wiki.
What exactly is this wiki?
Think of it as an open, living manual (like Wikipedia, but about Mobil): a website that anyone can add to.
You will find step-by-step instructions on what Mobil is, how to use the modules, what parts you need, what is safe, and above all: what we have already learned in practice. With photos, short instructions, checklists, diagrams and examples. Not “beautifully written”, but clear and usable – so that others can repeat, adapt and pass it on.
What is a Wikijam?
A Wikijam is an open working session in which we add content to the wiki together. No long presentations: we come to create, document, organise and publish.
What will we do that day?
We will help you get started. There is a clear list of specific contributions that the wiki needs. You choose something that suits you and can start right away (alone or in pairs). For example:
- photographing modules and details as if for a manual
- measuring, weighing and labelling parts (so that the specs are correct)
- creating short, concise how-to’s (really ‘how to do it’)
- Clean up and improve diagrams, visuals and page structure
- Mini-interviews with partners/builders/designers: what works, what doesn’t, and why
You don’t have to be a “wiki person”. If you can create, observe, organise, write or ask questions, you are welcome.
Why participate?
Because this is the most enjoyable way to get to know Mobil up close: you meet fellow creators and builders, and you see immediate results. We publish what we create right away — and it helps others use, copy or improve Mobil.
Practical
When: Saturday 7 March, 12:00–±20:00 (feel free to come for a few hours)
Where: Cultureghem, Abattoir site, Ropsy Chaudronstraat 24, 1080 Anderlecht
We will provide snacks, drinks and dinner.
