This summer, Cultureghem is once again bringing a vibrant play experience to Cureghem! Starting in June, we can be found every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon in the “Great Hall of Molenbeek” on the old Libelco site along the canal. We invite children to let their creativity run wild with our “loose parts play” methodology, where they can play freely with a wide range of play material. In addition to last year’s beloved materials, such as Ketmet’s game boxes and the innovative “MoBil” modules, we are also adding new elements to enhance the fun of play. Partners such as Circus Zonder Handen and Future Farmers are enriching the play experience with their unique contributions!
Great hall – theme weeks in July and August
In July and August we organize bi-weekly themed play days. Each theme week is concluded with a festive theme day on Saturday:
- July 1 to 13: SPLASH (water) 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Theme day Saturday 13 July in collaboration with Pool is Cool 2-6 p.m.
- July 15 to 27: MOVE (movement, sports) 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Theme day Saturday July 27 i.c.w. Circus Zonder Handen and Cureghem Boxing Academy. 2pm-6pm
- July 29 to August 17: SHINE (light and dark) 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Theme day Saturday 17 August in collaboration with Cinemaximilian 2pm-6pm
- August 19 to 31: (RE)BUILD (building with recovered materials)** 2pm-6pm
- Theme day Saturday August 31 in collaboration with Gilbard asbl. 2pm-6pm

Pool is Cool – celebrating future swimming opportunities
In addition, Pool is Cool will be active for three days this summer at the entrance to the Abattoir site to inform the neighborhood about the construction of a swimming pool on the roof of the new Manufacture. On July 17, 18 and 19, they will take over an old Valvoline gas station on Ropsy Chaudron Street. Wednesday, July 17 is dedicated to play, Thursday, July 18, we will inform the neighborhood, and Friday, July 19, we will celebrate.
Cultureghem supports this initiative with play equipment and mobile kitchens because we believe in the power of public space and residents’ involvement in urban change!
