A performance composed of 5 solos by performing artists who each in their own way reuse “unused” or “deleted” scenes. What if failure could also lead to something constructive? 

Wed 29/6 – 18:00 -> Circus show “Encore une fois” by the company Les Tripotes

Three circus artists amaze young and old with their juggling and acrobatic skills on a giant seesaw under the covered market. A collaboration with Pierre de Lune, as part of the festival “Cirque au Balcon” 

JULY 

Wed 13/7 – 19:00 -> Dreamteam Culture Night

A composite soirée cultural evening bringing together the various artistic ambitions of our effervescent Dream Team! A parkour or breakdance workshop as an offshoot of KETMET, temporary tattoos thanks to a collaboration with Bitoño and a unique concert by the Brussels rapper Daflow! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more info!

Mon 25/7, Tue 26/7 & Wed 27/6 – 20:15 -> Open air cinema

Just like last year, we join forces with Cinéma Galeries to propose three unique movie nights, whereby the menu of the DREAMKITCHEN is adapted to the content of the movie. A family film on a Wednesday evening! A collaboration with Cinéma Galeries, within the framework of the festival “L’Heure d’été“.

AUGUST

Wed 10/8 – 18:00 -> Circus performance “À 2 mètres” by the ADM company

A duo of circus artists shows how you can be guided by your dreams and not by your fears, despite medical difficulties such as the need for an oxygen tank. A collaboration with Pierre de Lune, as part of the festival “Cirque au Balcon”.

For each activity we provide 

• a delicious healthy meal based on unsold fruit and vegetables from the market, in our DREAMKITCHEN 
• fun and games thanks to KETMET which stays open until the start of the activity,  
• a wonderful summer bar with beers, wine, homemade iced tea and fresh juices! 

All activities are free of charge. No need to book – just come along!

The workshops take place around a central stage on which presentation moments of all disciplines are held: circus, sports, games, technology and science are demonstrated. The whole event is animated by the MCs and the steaming kitchen of our chef de cuisine.

During BRU’XL activities, our KETMET will just continue as usual! Come and play with our playboxes and animators every Wednesday under the covered market of Abattoir.

Everyone is welcome to help out in the kitchen. We’re under the covered market from 9am, so don’t hesitate to get an apron and come and peel a carrot or mix the soup with us. No time to cook, but want to taste what we’ve concocted? From 12 to 1.30 pm, you’re welcome to try it! The DREAMKITCHEN works on a basis of free donation, so you pay what you can or what you want to support the project!

DREAMKITCHEN and our fantastic DREAMTEAM are eager to keep you warm with the most delicious soup and with nutritious meals for the whole of Brussels and far beyond.

In these cold times, there is even more need for warmth and solidarity. That is why we are keeping our DREAMKITCHEN open this winter to do what we do best: make delicious food based on recuperated fruit and vegetables from the Abattoir market.

Moreover, this winter DREAMKITCHEN will become a real soup factory! We want to share more than 2000 litres of soup with everyone, but especially with the people who need it the most. 

Do you feel like lending a hand this winter? Then you can come to our DREAMKITCHEN and share the warmth with us by making tasty soup for everyone!

Then it’s the big dance in the kitchen: hands that peel, cut, wash, assemble, sprinkle as much love as spices in the delicious vegetarian dishes prepared 4 days a week under our roof in the covered market. There are also those who fill the colourful bowls with tasty soup every day. The ones who drop off and assemble the food parcels on Monday. The ones who play, draw, throw, box and guide the children in their Wednesday games and learning. 

And here, we are not even talking about all those feet dancing and jumping, forgetting the cold and the coming winter. All those hands patiently building the great dream of Cultureghem, all those hearts that make our pots go round and round, all those sunny smiles that brave the whims of our Brussels sky to recreate our oasis of human warmth every day, where everyone can create and find their place. 

For the more Cartesian among us, we could also ask ourselves: How many hands, feet and hearts are there behind the scenes at Cultureghem? And what do we do with all this joyful energy? 

TADAAAA…and here are some answers that may well take your breath away: 

• Since the beginning of the year, Cultureghem has shared 12,969 hours of voluntary work. That’s as long as it takes to walk around the world.
• Our volunteer champion alone has accumulated 600 volunteer hours! That’s like watching all the World Cup matches 6 times.

This precious time given to Cultureghem allows us to 

• welcome 450 children per month, the equivalent of 41 football teams.
• prepare 200 litres of soup per week, the equivalent of a good hot bath filled to the brim. 
• collect 15,000 kg of unsold vegetables and fruit per month, or 4 Asian elephants.

So, for all of this, we are proud and happy to say a HUGE THANK YOU to our simply magical DREAMTEAM, and to dedicate them this poem written by Maud Vanhauwaert, in collaboration with the Festival Les Voix en Ville 2021.

From June to October we experimented with “LaboOMTA”: we transformed the Abattoirs into an open meeting space, where the casual passer-by could be touched and questioned by various artistic interventions. We set up our own projects as well as collaborated with various cultural partners in the city; gave a stage to Belgian and international artists as well as our own dreamteam; let ourselves be carried away by the magic of the arts both during the day and in the evening.

We will participate in the ambitious programme of Open Streets 21 together with FilterCaféFiltré and many other cultural partners. But we also cook in our neighbourhood with the young and slightly older pagadders of Elmer vzw and Entre’ages asbl on the Herzieningslaan. And we work together with Gilbard asbl to transform the Liverpool street from a racetrack into a place for everyone.

L’article Cultureghem summer for everyone est apparu en premier sur Cultureghem.

This summer, we want to show what our fantastic site has to offer in terms of the arts: from the end of June to mid-September, on Wednesday evenings, we will transform the covered market into a concert hall, an open-air cinema, a theatre, … We are testing the first partnerships and laying the foundation stone for OMTA.

We open the summer with a few concerts in collaboration with Orfeo. At the beginning of August, we launch a partnership with Cinéma Galeries. As part of their open-air festival L’heure d’été, we’ll be showing films that are all about food. On those evenings, come and enjoy a delicious meal related to the theme of the film in our DREAMKITCHEN. Mid-August we will have a visit from the “Ne Mosquito Pas”- collective.
